Sam Vega

Sam Vega, in his early forties, is obsessed with the immanence of his own death. A musician and artist, Sam has spent many years working at various meaningless jobs that have left him unfulfilled and anxious about wasting his life away. Sam's life in the City of the Electric Sun has become a perpetual dark night in which he is hunted by the Shadow Demons and haunted by flaming swords that threaten to slice him to pieces. Sam's urgent desire to break his habitual tendencies has inspired him to quit his job and "go back" to a time when he was a child, to "unlearn" his way of seeing and recapture the light of his youth. 

To escape the dark world of his habitual patterns and vicious cycles Sam becomes increasingly lost in the Kingdom of the Ancient Wonders, a fantasy world of snow-covered mountains and ancient light forms. It is here that Sam seeks the Dragon of Light in the Valley of the Darkest Places... 

Troma Nakmo 

Troma lives in a curious shack that she built on a vacant lot down the street from Sam's apartment. In her 50’s, Troma is an artist and urban magi who explores the alleyways, dumpsters and refuse piles of the city in search of materials with which she builds wind sculptures. At the back of the lot, glowing in firelight and stretching upwards some 20 feet stand five such sculptures, the Elementals. 

Troma is not one to mince words and her intolerance of trivial affairs and her emphasis on the impermanence of life challenge Sam's convictions. Troma teaches Sam that he need not escape this dark world for it is his own projection. The light of his childhood is right here and always is. But the only way to experience it and transcend his habitual patterns is to sacrifice himself to his demons for it is his fabricated 'self' that is in the way of realizing his true nature.

Herukas ( Wrathful Form)

The Five Herukas transform into terrifying blood-thirsty creatures in The City of The Electric Sun, hellbent on shredding Sam to pieces with their flaming swords.

Herukas ( Peaceful Form)

In the Kingdom Of The Ancient Wonders, the land of the Dragon, the Five Herukas in their peaceful form emerge from a glowing lake in the Valley Of The Darkest Places. Emitting an electric hum and connected to cables that disappear behind them deep within the lake, the Herukas float through the evergreen forest of the valley towards Sam's cave high up on a mountain side. When they reach Sam's cave they surround him in a circle and begin drawing out his vital energy and channeling it to the Dragon...

Skotty

Owner of  The Chrysalis Tavern and a close friend of  Sams. Skotty has always been encouraging Sam to pursue his music and stop wasting his time at meaningless jobs. Although Skotty likes Sam's company, he is becoming increasingly worried about Sam's excessive drinking. Not wanting him to end up like Oliver, a regular for life, Skotty is faced with having to cut Sam off to save him. ( Sam's tab has also grown considerably since Sam quit his job with no money saved)

Oliver Brown

Retired film projectionist and a regular at The Chrysalis Tavern, Oliver Brown sits in the same seat at the bar every day talking to a film projector up on a shelf. After his wife of 30 years died in an accident a few years back, Oliver withdrew into his own world  of humming machines and projected images.
